From Cauliflower to Crispy Delight: My Gobi 65 Recipe Success

August 02, 2022

I can speak from experience when I say that Indians adore their snacks. We can never get enough of them, whether it's chaat, samosas, or pakoras. Thus, when I recently had a craving for a snack, I chose to cook one of my favorites, Gobi 65. For those who are unfamiliar, Gobi 65 is a well-known Indian treat made of cauliflower that has been deep-fried to a crisp perfection before being covered with a spicy batter.

Even though I openly admit that I'm not the world's best chef, I was driven to make Gobi 65 and have it turn out great. I searched up a recipe online and it seemed simple enough to follow. I assembled all the components I would require, including cauliflower, besan (gram flour), cornmeal, and a number of spices.

The actual recipe itself was quite simple. I made a thick batter by first combining water with besan and cornflour. Then I added a variety of spices, including turmeric, garam masala, and red chili powder. For an additional flavor boost, I also used some chopped green chiles and ginger-garlic paste.

I dipped the cauliflower florets into the batter once it was done, making sure they were completely covered. When the oil was hot enough, I put the cauliflower in the pan and deep-fried it until it was crisp and golden brown. The final product was wonderful to the core. The spicy batter of the Gobi 65 was flavorful and had the proper amount of crunch on the outside. It was the ideal snack to sate my hunger when I served it with some mint chutney.
